About Me

Katie Karran BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy MCSP

I graduated from Keele University in 2006 and worked at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for 11 years where I gained vast experience in a variety of specialisms inc. the assessment and treatment of Facial Palsy. I am a member of the Facial Therapy Specialist Network; this enables me to collaborate with other therapists both nationally and internationally to maintan the best standards of excellence in practice. I have completed Bobath level one training and maintain current evidence based practice by attending courses. I have been a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology for a number of years and when living in Birmingham I was a comittee member and provided lectures and training.

I live in Sheffield and can often be found exploring the Peak District with my husband and young family. I really enjoy all aspects of fitness and its positive impact on general health and wellbeing.

How I Can Help You

I start with a free short telephone consultation to discuss your situation and answer any questions about treatment you may have.

You will then have a thorough graded assessment and complete appropriate outcome measures.

I listen to your needs and help you identify personal goals for therapy.

We will jointly tailored a rehabilitation program to enable you to optimise function and regain a sense of self and control.

See the Difference

I use validated graded assessment and outcome measures so you can track your progress over time and see your improvement.

Advanced Facial Palsy Assessment and Management

I can assess your facial palsy and give you a treatment  programme to follow.

Conditions I treat include Bell's Palsy, Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, Stroke, Facial Palsy due to inner ear or cranial surgery and palsy due to facial surgery or trauma.

Your initial assessment will take around 90 minutes and will incorporate a full case history and a graded assessment of the facial function. You will then be provided  and a treatment programme of stretches, massage and exercises will be prescribed.
